LASUTH PARTNERS TAC, COMMISSIONS VIP THEATRE SUITES

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), In Partnership With The Ambulance Company (TAC), Has Officially Commissioned The VIP Theatre Suites At The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Building. This Initiative Aligns With The Lagos State Government’s Drive To Expand Access To Quality Healthcare Services For Residents Of The State. The Commissioning Ceremony Was Held On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, At The SDG Building. In His Opening Remarks, The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, Described The Partnership With TAC As A Timely Intervention Born Out Of Two Urgent Needs. First, The Hospital Has Been Faced With A Long Waiting List For Elective Surgical Cases, Creating The Need For Additional Operating Theatre Suites. Second, The Hospital Continues To Grapple With The Acute Shortage Of Intensive Care Beds. Prof. Fabamwo Explained That The Commissioning Of Eleven Intensive Care Beds And Five High Dependency Unit (HDU) Theatre Suites Marks A Quiet But Profound Revolution Within LASUTH. He Emphasized That The Current Hospital Management Is Committed To Transforming Healthcare Delivery, Reducing Dependence On Government Funding, And Exploring Strategic Partnerships For Sustainable Growth. He Expressed Appreciation To TAC For Funding The Project And Joining Hands With LASUTH In Its Progress Journey. On Her Part, The Managing Director Of TAC, Dr. Aisha Onisarotu Atanda, Expressed Delight At The Successful Take-off Of The Partnership. She Noted That The Facilities Will Deliver World-class Critical Care Services, With The Eleven ICU Beds And Five HDU Suites Designed To Serve Patients In Urgent Need. She Further Commended Prof. Fabamwo For His Dedicated Support In Bringing The Collaboration To Fruition. In His Vote Of Thanks, The Director Of Clinical Services And Training, Prof. Adebowale Adekoya, Praised The CMD For His Leadership In Expanding Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) Within LASUTH. He Revealed That The Hospital Currently Has Over Eighteen PPPs That Have Opened New Frontiers In Healthcare, Helping Retain Patients Who Would Otherwise Seek Treatment Abroad. He Added That The Newly Commissioned ICU Beds Are Equipped With State-of-the-art Ventilators, While TAC Will Also Provide Complimentary Ambulance Services To Transport Patients From The Emergency Unit To The ICU Suites.
