LASUTH Holds Matriculation Ceremony For Students Of The Schools Of Anaesthetic Technology And Orthopaedic Cast Technology

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Held A Matriculation Ceremony For The Schools Of Anaesthetic Technology And Orthopaedic Cast Technology For The 2024/2025 Academic Session, On Wednesday, The 7th Of May, 2025. The Event Took Place At The MRC Auditorium Of The Hospital.

In Her Welcome Address, Dr. Titilola Awodesu, The Head Of The School Of Anaesthetic Technology, Elucidated That The Institution Commenced Full Academic Activities In May 2022 With An Inaugural Cohort Of 34 Students And Has Since Maintained A Commendable Record Of Successful Training. She Emphasized The Significance And Objectives Of The School, Assuring The Matriculants That Upon Completion Of Their Program, They Would Emerge As Qualified Anaesthetic Technologists And Technicians.

Similarly, The Head Of The School Of Orthopaedic Cast Technology, The Director Of Nursing Services, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babarimisa, Also Extended A Warm Welcome To The Members Of The Management Committee, Students, And Their Families. She Expressed Gratitude To The Chief Medical Director Of LASUTH And The School's Management For Conceiving The Establishment Of The Institution, Noting That These Students Are The Second Cohort To Be Matriculated. DNS Babarimisa Expressed Her Enthusiasm In Welcoming The Students Into The Orthopaedic Community, Taking Pride In The Dedicated Faculty Committed To Providing Guidance, Support, And Mentorship To Facilitate The Students’ Academic And Personal Aspirations.

Prof. Adebowale O. Adekoya, The Director Of Clinical Services And Training/Chairman Of The Medical Advisory Committee, Conveyed His Opening Remarks By Expressing Gratitude To The Chief Medical Director For His Steadfast Support In Fostering The Growth Of LASUTH Through The Introduction Of Academic Institutions That Have Yielded Numerous Graduates. Prof. Adekoya Informed The Students That Their Schools Are Two Among Many That LASUTH Operates.He Articulated That The Creation Of These Schools Was A Product Of Vision Coupled With Passion, Revealing The Extensive Effort Involved. He Acknowledged The Support Of The Lagos State Government, Led By Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, In Making These Initiatives Possible.

He Continued By Saying That, The LASUTH Management Takes Pride In Being The Sole Institution In Nigeria With A Well-established School Of Echocardiography, As Well As The Fact That LASUTH's Anaesthetic Technology Program Is Prominently Featured In The Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB) Admission List, Distinguishing It Among Other Institutions.

Prof. Adekoya Affirmed That Achieving Such Heights Requires Remarkable Vision, Attributing The Institution's Success To The Diligent Efforts Of The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo. He Assured Those Present That LASUTH’s Institutions Are Duly Accredited By The National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) And Have Secured Appropriate Endorsements From Relevant Stakeholders, To Ensure That The Matriculants Will Be Thoroughly Equipped Graduates, Ready To Excel In Their Relevant Field Nationwide.

In Her Goodwill Message, The Principal Administrative Officer, Mrs. Mary Essien Who Represented The Chief Executive Officer Of The Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, Conveyed Her Best Wishes To The Students As They Embark On Their Professional Journeys Within The Institutions. She Urged The Students To Remain Cognizant Of Their Purpose During Their Academic Tenure, Emphasizing That Their Dedication Would Ultimately Define Their Success.
