LASUTH COMMENCES 2025 WITH SPECIAL INTERDENOMINATIONAL PRAYERS

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Hosted An Interdenominational Prayer Session On Thursday, January 2, 2025, At The MRC Auditorium To Mark The Beginning Of The New Year And Express Gratitude For God's Faithfulness Throughout 2024.

In His Opening Remarks, Mr. Jelili Babatunde Oyekan, The Director Of Hospital Administration And Human Resources, Emphasized The Significance Of The Event. He Described The New Year As A Rare And Invaluable Gift, Noting That The Prayer Session Was Organized To Dedicate 2025 To God. "Irrespective Of Our Religions, Whether Muslim Or Christian, We Believe In Seeking Divine Guidance As We Start The Year," He Said.

The Lagos State Head Of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, Who Attended The Event Alongside Teaching Commission Members And Body Of Permanent Secretaries, Acknowledged The Critical Role Of Healthcare Workers In Society. "Healthcare Professionals Bear Immense Responsibility As They Save Lives Daily Through Their Expertise And Quick, Professional Responses," He Remarked.

Reflecting On 2024, He Mentioned That Despite The Challenges Faced, Prayers And Perseverance Helped In Achieving Great Success. He Reassured Attendees Of The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s Commitment To Ensuring 2025 Is A Year Of Progress And Fulfillment Of Promises. Mr. Agoro Also Urged Senior Officers To Be Open To Innovative Ideas From Their Subordinates.

In His Charge, The Chief Medical Director, Professor Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, Expressed Gratitude To God For His Blessings And Preservation Of All Members Of Staff In The Previous Year. He Appreciated The Continuous Support Of The Lagos State Government; And Praised The Administration For Its Proactive Approach To Staff Replacement And Retention, Which Has Helped Mitigate The Effects Of The "japa" Syndrome.

Prof. Fabamwo Highlighted The Recent Approval To Increase The Number Of Interns Across Various Disciplines, Including Nursing, Pharmacy, And Physiotherapy, As A Monumental Achievement. He Also Made An Appeal For Improvements In Staff Welfare, Specifically For The Replacement Of Dilapidated Staff Buses; And The Integration Of LASUTH’s Postgraduate Diploma In Hospital Administration Into The State’s Scheme Of Service.

Prof. Fabamwo Concluded By Encouraging Staff To Remain Compassionate And Dedicated In 2025, Reminding Them That Their Efforts Were Being Closely Observed And Deeply Appreciated.

The Event Featured Prayers, Scripture Readings, Songs Of Praise, And Expressions Of Gratitude From Both Christian And Muslim Representatives. The Interfaith Gathering Was A Demonstration Of Unity And Hope, Setting A Positive Tone For The Year Ahead At LASUTH.
