was promoted Director of Pharmacy in January 2012 and appointed Head of Department of Pharmacy/Director, Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services in December 2014. He was born in Asaba on 24th of March in 1958 where he attended Holy Trinity Primary School, Asaba; and completed his secondary education in 1977 at St. Patrick’s College, Asaba. He proceeded to the University of Benin in 1978 to study Pharmacy and graduated in 1983. He undertook his internship at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and completed his National Service at Vom Christian Hospital Vom in Plateau State in 1985. Mr. Chukwura holds an MBA Degree with interest in Financial Planning. He has also earned a Law Degree, with emphasis on Liabilities in Medical Practice in Nigeria.

Mr. Chukwura worked briefly in community practice in Kaduna, before being employed as a Detailing Pharmacist by NATCO Inc; of Monrovia, Liberia; marketers of Beecham Products. He returned to Nigeria during Liberian crisis and joined the services of the Lagos State Government as a Senior Pharmacist in 1991. He served in various general hospitals, such as: General Hospital Lagos, General Hospital Ikorodu, Gbagada General Hospital Gbagada, and finally General Hospital Ikeja before its transformation in 2001 to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja as one of the pioneer staff.

Mr. Chukwura was appointed the pioneer Secretary of the Continuing Medical Education Committee of LASUTH; a position he still holds He was the coordinator of the Essential Drug Review Committee and Therapeutic and Drug Formulary Committee of LASUTH. Mr Chukwura who was a former State Coordinator of National Pharmacovigilance Programme is the current Service Delivery Director of LASUTH He was the former Unit Coordinator of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), LASUTH/LASUCOM Unit.

He had been involved in various publications such as : Pattern Of Drug Prescription In a Nigerian Urban Tertiary Health Care Facility by Chukwura H.A., Ogunleye O.O et al (Abstract Accepted and Presented at World Congress For Basic and Clinical Pharmacology, Cape Town, South Africa, July 13-18, 2014); Adverse Drug Reactions in Nigerian Children by Chukwura H.A., Oshikoya K.A., Njokanma O.F., Ojo I.O. Paediatric and Perinatal Drug Therapy 2007; 8: 81 – 8; Paediatric and Perinatal Drug Therapy 2007;8: 81-8; Medication Errors in Paediatrics Outpatient Prescriptions by Chukwura H.A., Oshikoya K.A., Njokanma O.F., Ojo I.O.

Mr. Chukwura had also been involved in some research works, where he served as the Trial Pharmacist, in conjunction with Professor O.O. Odusanya of LASUCOM; GSK Pharm- sponsored Multi-Centre Pneumococcal Vaccine Clinical Trial in LASUTH in 2010. He was also involved in the NAFDAC / W.H.O. -Sponsored Multi-Centre Cohort Event Monitoring for ADRs (Adverse Drug Reactions) of ACTs, 2012 in conjunction with Dr. O.O.Ogunleye etc.

He enjoys sports, and he is married to Mrs. Faith Chukwura. They are blessed with four children.
